would this work?

I was originally going to do the intake silencer removal mod for my 3.0, but I don't like the idea of those bolts possibly being sucked in. Not that I don't have faith in the design of the mod, I'm just paranoid.

I was thining, what if I were to get a rubber hose that's 4 inches in diameter to connect the first robber biece by the TB up to the back of the airbox. The other two hoses that go into the throttle body could be hooked up to a T shaped union and ran into a smaller air filter/breather. It seems less risky than gluing the bolts into the muffler pipe, and less expensive too.

Is there a flaw in my little plan?

-Keith

EDIT: I stole a picture from the silencer removal writeup and painted in some lines to show my crappy little plan

Hey Keith, get the spoiler today? with your question that seems like more trouble to go to. There is no glue involved with the write up & exhaust tubing. Its thread lock and if you cake it on that nut/bolt are there forever. If your paranoid enough then JB weld it but the write up thats currently in place is better than the rubber tubing that came stock. The rubber tubing has ridges that dont allow the smooth air flow. Thats why they did exhaust tubing that is smooth. But if you did do your idea I would be curious as to see pics being I thought of the same plan but never went forth. I had the cash and no patients and spent $200 on a FIPK. Shall be here next week. Blue

The windjammer came today and I missed it! They'll be back with it tomorrow or Friday and I'll be around for sure then. Thanks again, can't wait to see it.

I think I'm going to try this and see how it works out. The most expensive part would be the little breather for the two vacuum hoses, after that I'm sure I could find the rest of the materials for under 15 bucks. If I try it out I'll make a post about it with some pictures.

It might be a little less efficient than the original silencer removal mod, but it seems like it'd be alot easier to do and cheaper too!
