Window Defroster problems

Gentlemen, This will be the first winter in my 98 Limited. I have noticed the rear window defroster is very slow to defrost compared to most other cars I've driven in the past. Also I've noticed that the passengerside rear window has defroster lines , but does nothing to remove any frost/ humidity. The defroster button works but like I've said, it's so slow at defrosting
Can anyone offer any advice or troubleshooting help?

not sure if can offer troubleshooting help, but my 98 SR5 has always been a little slow to defrost the rear window. also seems that one of the elements is bad as the window always seems to stay fogged up around it.

as for the rear passenger side window... are you referring to the window on the side of the cargo area? you may be seeing the built-in antenna that works with the factory stereos... or i may be misunderstanding you.

Neither of my 4Runners have been very quick to defrost. And the side window is an antenna.
