I have a Inch Marker 8K winch. It is slow, but seem to work fine. My trails are mainly silt with deep water/mud crossings that are over the hood and winching is a must every 5 minutes. My winch worked fine for a wile then It quit free spooling but everything else worked. I rebuilt it and some silt bonded to the gears inside the winch. Now it over heats when I take it in. I think the selenods are filled with mud. I put the selenoids behind the airbox under the hood and I guess after a deep crossing the control box filled up. That could happen with all winches I guess, if that's what's wrong. Ramsey has a history of sucking majorly and overheat quickly. I have seen some old 9K ramsey bite the dust quickly and one mounted to a trailer almost burnt up putting my bronco on it. If I had to do it again I would go with warn.
Also my Mile Marker came with 100ft of cable that frequently rubed the inside of my TJM bumper so I upgraded to a smaller diameter 95ft plasma winch rope

Is there that much dif. in the 8000lb. vs. 8500lb. vs. 9000lb. with the wt. of the 4-Runner wouldn't the 9000lb MileMarker be better? I have read good things about the MileMarker, I'm just not sure.

I also failed to say that I won't be using the winch that often, I really don't do any trail riding to speek of, mostly deer hunting and that kind of thing. If I was going to be on the trail every weekend I would go with a Warn 9000 or something made for alot of heavy use. I really need a just in case winch.

From what I've read here there are vey few people who really winchevery weekend. Most have only used their winchs once maybe twice. and everyone has said that the M8000 with or without a snatch block is more then sufficient

I just called 4wheelparts to order the Warn 8000, when they say free shipping they forgot to tell you about the $29.99 crate charge! so the 499.00 go's to $528.99 just like that, its still a good price but over my budget! They have the Mile Marker 9000 for $449.00 but still tack on the $29.99 crate charge. To Bad!

When I ordered mine from then about a month ago it was a winch, lifetime warranty, some tow straps, some hooks all for $529. The $30 crating fee was included in the price. Try ordering off their wiebsite and see if it still charges a crating fee.

Dude that sucks. That crating fee is crap. They literally put the box on a pallate and wrap it in plastic and ship it. Thats the crating fee. It probably cost about $30 to ship it. So its a scam.
But still if the difference is $30-40 I would still go warn over the other ones. Thats just me.

I got mine from 4wheel parts and it was $450, but I saw a rebate for $50. They told me to call Mile Marker for my $50 check and MM had know idea what I was talking about. 4wheel parts didn't want to give me my $50. I told them I was gonna return it and I used it already the first night in the mud. They said it would be a $50 restocking fee. I told them to pull my record of previous items that have come from my house (2 Runners, FJ40 and Bronco) and said that I would never do business unless this was fixed today. So I faxed the rebate to them and went and got my money.
