Will this transmission cooler work just as well as the Hayden 1678?

This cooler is at my local kragen and they don't carry Hayden, so I can save about 10 bucks if I buy this one and don't get a Hayden shipped to me. Their sizes are about the same and the pictures are identical...

The Kragen Cooler

vs.

The Hayden 1678 that everyone swears by

You want to look for a "stacked plate" design which it appears to be but I can't tell from the pic.
It should work fine though (you want to stay away from these...see below).

I live in Reno, we have a Summit Racing here, very fast shipment for me I'm wondering if it's worth the extra $15 bucks, it's also 3/4" thicker, will it fit?

I think I'll jsut get the Kragen unit, so should I change the tranny fluid while i'm at it? I have no idea what the last owener used, I think he used a synthetic but I'm not sure, would I be safe using mobil 1 synthetic not knowing what is in there now? Which mobil 1 should i get?
Thanks guys...

Also how hard is it to put new tranny fluids in?
