Hi , first tech post so please don't bite at me to hard . I have a 1st gen LHD 85 2.0 petrol SR5 4Runner imported to UK . It has the solid axle fitted as standard along with 16" steel wheels . Over here in UK most 4Runners (or Surfs as they are badged) are 2nd gen . These are IFS and most come with the wheels in this pic ..........

I have indentical colour 4Runner except my roof is white not black .I want to know if the IFS wheels like these will fit my solid axle veicle .

Just that someone said the front brake calipers will foul the inside of the alloy 15" wheel.

okay i didnt know that the rims you were talking about were 15", I'd stick with a 16+" wheel if I were you, the caliper trimming is too much hassel

So the IFS 4Runner calipers are different from the solid axle ? I can not find any nice 16" alloys to fit , I like the look of the ones on the Runner in the pic as my vehicle is the same colour .

you have a solid front axle?

if yes, then it doesnt have ifs calipers.....

OK , I have tried my mates spare wheel as in the first post . A 2nd gen alloy with -8 offset . It does NOT foul the caliper but DOES foul the steering arm and balljoint on the hub . I spaced the alloy away with washers on the studs up to 5/16" and it just cleared but fouled the wheel balance weights .I may consider some wheel spacers to push the alloys out more , but as I am out of work at mo the money ain't there . My mate owes me money so may let me have the alloys as part settlement .

I have a difficult time finding wheels to fit my sons 85 solid axle truck. I had a set like those, and then found the interferance with the tierod :cry:
I wouldn't use washers. You could use wheel spacers, but they can be spendy.
I did notice that the wheels the 85 needs are the same as what the Landcruiser needs (in the states, that is up to an 89)

I only used the washers to see how far I needed to space the wheel off the hub . I was not going to keep them on there .Tierod is what I meant when I said steering arm and balljoint . English/American translation again .
