Hey everyone!

First time post... I have a 97 4Runner 4x4 Ltd and am planning on putting SAW Racerunners up front cranked to 2" and OME891 at the rear. I am also planning on putting a Roger Brown 2" body lift and ATS Upper A Arms.

Question is, the tires I want to go with are the 305/70R16 or equivalent to 33/12.5or16 Procomp XTerrains on medium offset rims. I don't rock crawl but do twist the suspension some while on dunes and getting to remote campsites. Can I get away with this lift and tire combo? Can I use my stock wheels? The procomps are on sale right now, buy 3 and get 1 free. That is why I want to go with procomps and that size. Thanks.

I am going to take a guess and say yes. I haven't lifted my truck _yet_ but in researching everything here and over on 4x4wire, the consensus is that 285/75 26's fit easily with 2 inches of lift. So, add the body lift and you should be o.k. I think there is somone on here with that size tire, but can't remember who. Also, I seem to remember somone running 35's on a 3 inch body lift and 2 inch suspension lift. You might try searching for more answers.

with 4" of total lift in the front, you might get a little rubbing... i dont think you will have to worry about the back. you will probably need wider wheels if your getting 1250's. im gonna be putting on 32x12.50x15 tires on some 15x8 or 15x10s. ill have 2.5" of lift from the SAWs. they might rub a little. this is on a tacoma, which seems to have way better clearance than 4runners. i could probably fit 31 or 32 x 11.50's fine stock height. dont think you could do that on a 2nd or 3rd (or 4th) gen runner.

you shouldn't have any major problems though.

if you wanna run 33s ull prob need to get new rims. i rubbed the a arms w/ my stock rims and i got new ones w/ 3 5/8 back spacing and that fixed the problem. welcome aboard!

those won't fit unless as the other dude said you get 3-5/8" backspacing or use wheel spacers which isn't a good idea. the problem is the width. they will definately rub in a turn and even worse turning while offroading. the problem with that short of backspacing or wheel spacers is that the wheels will be turning on a larger radius which may cause other components to hit and also brings the outside edges of the tread closer to the fender, valence or rear fender well during a turn and could and probably will contact it. I know this because I wanted those procomp tires before I got my bfg m/t's and I was pizzed because procomp don't offer up a 285/75r16 size. I had 4wheelparts fit a 305/75 tire up and there was too much interfrence. also with wheel spacers you make the moment arm on the hub/axles longer and can cause them to snap, I've known this to happen to some people. you will need 16x10 wheels for the 305's but only 16x8's for the 285's. best thing to do would be to go with the 285's and 16x8 wheels. I wouldn't try to squeeze the 285's onto the 16x7 stocks only because I am a stickler for manuf. specs and most tire manuf.'s spec at minimum a 16x8 for the 285/75r16 size. bfg does anyway.

you can't fit 35's on a 3rd gen without major fender trimming no matter what lift you put on it. the biggest lift you can safely put on is a 2-2.25" suspension lift due to the cv's in front and a 2" body lift and even the 2" body lift requires modifications and some welding and cutting.

i have a 3" bpdy lift and didnt have to cut or weld. dont get me wrong it was a pain in the ass, but its doable. either way you do it though, anything bigger than 285 and you should get new rims or youll have rubbing problems and 33s on 7" rims will be tall and skinny and wear weird.

Man! I wanted those tires so bad. I understand that anything is possible if you have the money. Any idea how this guy got those 35"s under it?

For starters, the truck in that link is a 2WD and he has fiberglass front fenders...

you have an automatic tranny right? did you put an extension on the lever or doest it sit really low. any pics of how you handled that? On a manual tranny a 3" won't fit due to the shift lever unless you fab up a short throw kit. I know I can get one for up to a 2" but bigger than that requires special parts to be made unless you can enlighten me. did you have to extend any brake lines or fuel lines or electrical cables? how did you drop the radiator or at least the fan shroud or did you remove the shroud completely or did you install an electric fan? what about bumper brackets? how about steering shaft extension? Please answer these and include some pics because if you say it's doable and since you have done it, I want to look into it so I maybe can do it.

funny thing about that 98 4runner in that link it says "Purchasing the Toyota in May, '98, Shawn dropped $32K before it rolled off the lot."

haha, that's what I paid for mine brand new around the same time and mine has 4WD and everything a limited has except the sunroof, elocker, and leather powered seats and some bling-bling stuff. that guy got ripped off on the lot with no 4WD.
