Plus, IMO (and 99% of this board), 20's do not look right on a 4Runner. I only like them on Denali's, Range Rovers, etc. My friend put 22's on a lifted GMC 2500 diesel and it looked retarded. Didn't have the heart to tell him, though, after he dropped around $5k.

Keep in mind that 20"s on average weigh 37 lbs. The cheaper they get, the heavier. Your stock wheels weigh 22.5 lbs. That's a significant increase in rotational mass. 275/45/20 weigh on average 37 lbs, which is about the average weight of 265/70/16. So with the wheel tire combo, you gain 14.5 lbs. This will place excess stress on your bearings, braking components, and WILL affect your performance as well as your MPG's. Expect the feel of adding 8 lbs of sprung weight to your vehicle per pound of rotating mass. 14.5 lbs x 4 = 58... 58 unsprung weight x 8 lbs of sprung weight/unsprung weight = the EFFECT of about 464 lbs of excess weight you'll be dragging around by going with 20"s. Next time you take three 150 lb folks in your truck, take note of how the truck accelerates and brakes.
Considered going with 20"s for a litle while, then pulled the trigger on 16x8" Volk TE37X's that weigh in at 16 lbs per wheel, or 6.5 lbs lighter than the stock 16 x 7"s.
Consider the following: More expensive tires + faster wear on brake pads/rotors & bearings + decreased gas mileage + decreased performance, (our 4runners are already lacking in that department)... Just for better looks??? - which is based on your opinion. It's up to you.

That is very good advise there.
I plan on going with some lighter wheels when i do get some better ones but i will also be getting 285's so it will be about the same.
So can you tell a differnce with the lighter rims?

*intellectual bitch slap*
just kidding. good, informative input bro
and its true, most of the time 20s won't look right with a 4runner, they should be kept to the suvs mentioned above. the reason i said ask fo sheezy is cause his actually looks good

Yo qsvielside. Rota makes a knock off replica of the te37. For a fraction of the actual cost from rays = D The thread is in Customtacos.

Here's a pic of RUMBLES' japan spec Hilux Surf with the 16x8" TE37X's in neg 20 offset. His flares are 40mm wider than our sport ed's and limited's. Aggressive looking IMO. The neg 20 offset will stick out just a tad, which is the look I want. The Rotas will only be available in a zero offset, (which will sit inside the fender - meant for the newer tacos and 4runners with a more positive offset stock):

Volk TE37's with the zero offset:

The folks that have owned or currently own Volk wheels all claim they can feel a significant difference. Some of their wheels in the 16 application weigh a scant 11.5 to 13 lbs per wheel.
I'll let you guys know when I get them on my truck. I recently ordered them. Unfortunately, there's a 3 month wait for Mercury Silver finish.
