Okay well I know I asked on a different board to see if they would fit a 1st gen 4runner which I was going to buy but I found my 2nd gen instead...

Anyway my stepdad is getting new wheels and tires for his 03 z71 as soon as he gets back from Afghanistan...they have barely 11k miles on them. I would like to use them on the 4runner if they would work because I need new tires anyway and one of the wheels is pretty banged up.

Or would a newer 16" 4runner rim work and I can just have his tires mounted onto them?

give it a try. as long as the bolt pattern and number is correct, there is a chance. but somehow i doubt it. gm uses sae (inch ) measurements and toyota uses metric

yes, they are both 6 on 5.5 pattern. The only thing you will have to change are the lug nuts. GM uses 14X1.5mm XL lugs and Toyota uses 12X1.5mm.

yeah i guess it wouldnt hurt to jack up the 4runner and try to fit it....guess ill get to wait a few more months until he gets back home anyway. he wouldnt be too happy to have his truck sitting there with no tires :-D

yup they will fit if both 6 on 5.5

i currently have ford explorer rims on my yota... jsut changed the lugnuts..... they are 5 on 4.5"

I've never acutally had a reason to change wheels on any previous car...but how is the different offset going to effect it? My wheels have 8 offset stamped onto them, guessing +8mm, and I want to say the z71s are a negative offset...?

good point didnt think of that..... my explorers wheels fit... i will say testfit them and work from there....

I dont think they will fit. The hub bore on GM wheels is smaller than that on a 4runner. GM wheels would not fit on my 3rd gen.

The 6 lug pattern is the same. But don't just test fit them - the questionable issues have all been pointed out - center bore may not fit (it's okay if the GM wheels bore is bigger, they aren't hubcentric, but it won't work at all if the GM bore is smaller....,) backspacing my be wrong (some GMs had way more backspacing than anything else,) and be sure your lug nuts interface with the GM rims properly (compare the nuts - the end that contacts the wheel must be identical.)

you can have the center bore enlarged, if needed.
