So today i am mounting my back up lamps when I glance down at the ground under the passenger rear of my axle. I see a 12x7" diameter puddle of goldish fluid. I ofcourse touch it and feel it and sniff it. Looks, feels, and smells like brake fluid. My brake fluid is down but I see NO leak anywhere. Its very dry under the rig right now. I am wondering if I have a brake cylinder going out in the passenger rear drum. I would think that it could leak and dry pretty fast coming off the rubber tire but once on the ground it would puddle up. Very odd though.

i think that you would see a "water" mark on the tire if it was coming from there. is it your proportion valve at the bottom of the rig. Look for a shinny or cleaner spot. Just keep looking it is coming from somewhere. Or dose someone ells park there ever. Look and see if you can tell if it a recurring stain on the concrete. good luck

No the person that spot belongs to is blind and takes the bus. But she has been gone for months in cali so none of her friends have been parking there. Also the puddle looks fresh and the rig is so dry down unduh that it would be simple to see a leak stain. I am going to look again in better day light. I will prolly run down and let Jiffy lube top off the brake fluid being thats not a huge job for them or is it. lol I will keep you posted.

Stick a piece of cardboard under it and let it sit and see what happens.

As someone else said that looks like a lot of fluid. I would think your master cylinder would be empty. Maybe get someone to stand on the brake pedal to put some pressure in the system and look to see if anything is leaking out. |

I can't believe you need to take your truck to Jiffy lube to have brake fuild added/checked...
Besides, if the puddle is that big I wouldn't be driving it far before I looked at the resivour... So was/is it low?

I would pour some water on it to see if it mixes. If it mixes you know it ain't oil based and is possibly not brake fluid. If beads form then it is oil based. Because I'm a pyro I would throw a match at it and see if it lights up.
