why so stiff?
my ride is SOOO stiff its just a hassle. ive got an '04 taco prerunner, trd package, towing package, 3.4L, etc etc, and my ride is unbelieveably stiff. its like ive got no droop whatsoever. even going over railroad tracks at 35 mph, my rear wheels will get airbourne and bounce off to the side. i feel everything like im runnin over a wall. this is only true under 70mph though. highway speeds, i dont feel much, but at regular driving speeds its junk.
is this normal? is there anything i can do? im not lookin for lincoln towncar feel, just a little softer ride, and some more control. i dont mind a little stiffness, but when i lose control because i went over railroad tracks...

I'm not sure why they're so stiff. I would expect that you will get a lot of suggestions due to the fact that your title is "catchy"...........I guess I should get my mind out of the gutter.............Nah! I think I'll leave it in.

The real reason it`s so stiff is because of the Towing package. Heavier duty leafs and shocks. Put a couple bags of sand in the bed and try it. If that settles it down....well...there ya are.

Thats unusual, but i guess your idea of "stiff" may be different from mine. The stock TRD/bilstein coils and shocks on mine were a little stiff but no where near gnarly enough for serious offroad use. I replaced them with 3" adjustable donahoes. How many miles are on your truck? If the springs are still relatively new they may not have been broken in thuroughly enough. on the flipside, they maybe are already worn out from abuse before you purchased the vehicle?

well, im very pleased with the response. i blame it on the title. lol. anyways, its got about 65k on it, so its still new enough to not be really broken in, but i cant see it needed much longer to get a reasonable ride. and btw, ive got an entire set of tires sitting in my bed. if the wheels and tires dont do anything, the sandbags wont help much. and the tires are hurtin my gas mileage a little too. lol. i will try airing down a little. might help. thanks for the input all.
