Why I own a toyota!
Ford Escapes recalled!
http://www.mlive.com/newsflash/busin...lash-financial
"Ford said some Escapes with a 3-liter, V-6 engine may experience an intermittent stall when decelerating at speeds below 40 mph"
Interesting feature to have!

aha! the joys of being a carb guy, no computer to freak out on you, not that it happens often or anything :p
i've never been a fan of domestic vehicles(unless you count cars made before the 70s and trucks made before the 80s) but i'll be damned if the '78 f150 in the backyard won't start up within a couple tries after sitting for 6 months to haul a load of firewood or pull stumps whenever i need it to

It seems that the 2.5L V6 in the contours had a similar problem stallin on deceleration, but it only made it to a service bulitin, My 97 2.5L spun a rod bearing around 30k miles, then the manual trans went 10k later, definatly ford quality. That was the last one I'll own.
Their old trucks are another story of course, the ol' 302 will keep kickin for a long time.

......bought it when I was 15, taught me how to fix cars quick too!
I had it until I lent it to a friend and he tried to push down trees with it.

The Escapes also come with nice aluminum oil pans. Driving on gravel roads, hit a bump and the oil pan connected with a rock. They don't bend, they shatter. We had a couple that ford gave us for a T.V. show i did and we handed them back a brand new Escape that needed a new engine. We were 700 km from the nearest dealer and had to have the dumb thing towed the whole way. Definitely not a very tough truck, I would be very carefull taking it out of it's intended environment( the mall parking lot).
