who's got the stiffer suspension??
as i've stated many times before... i'm presently unemployed. so i won't be doing this anytime soon, if and when i get a job, i will be putting a lot of time and money into the truck (finally! )
Just to let some of you know, I don't think i'm ever going to go wheeling in THIS runner. maybe if my dad gives me his 96, i can set his up for that, but for mine, i think i'm gonna keep it on the street.
given that i don't have a lot of money in the pocket, i'm wondering amongst OME, Bilstein, Edelbrock, Rancho... who's going to work well with the 1" performance lowering springs, and which brand keeps it stiff?? ha ha ha. (no viagra jokes please)
I know everyone loves THEIR OWN suspension, but i've heard that bilsteins and Ranchos are particularly stiff? and if so, i'm under the impression that ranchos are well priced and fairly reliable. if anyone chooses to add their 2 cents, it would be greatly appreicated. again, this mod is a few months away... but i'd like to have something to aim for when i'm working... which i'm also aiming for.
i'm not trying to knock OME or SAW, but from what i've read, they seem to be more geared towards off roading and lifted trucks. i'd like to keep mine about an inch lower for better handling.
another question... since my stock shocks are still good, would it make more of a difference for me to get the lowering springs first, or do the shocks, then the springs? am i leaving anything out?

The Ranchos are stiff! Almost as stiff as... Oh wait no viagra jokes I have the ranchos on my truck and they are real stiff, until I load up the back with lumber/dirt that kind of stuff, then they take potholes and normal city street bumps alot better. I think in a runner they would be more comfortable because you already have the built in weight.

thanks for the info.
until i hear something else, or any complaints about the ranchos, i think that ranchos will be on my "christmas presents to buy for myself" list this year.
anyone else have any input on the lowering springs?
springs first, ranchos second?

I personally hate my ranchos. I've had them on there for about a year now...and everytime i hit a pothole it jars the hell out of the whole truck and damn near gives you whiplash. I donno, if its just cause there's no weight in the back, so it may be different witha 4runner, but as far as i'm concerned, i HATE ranchos and will never buy them again. I'm looking at Bilsteins or Edelborck's sometime this falls. Just my $.02.....

Hey monkey, you have a truck then I take it like me. Do you have a shell in the back? My dad's tacoma was real stiff and when he added his shell it evened out the ride more. I am considering doing this even though I hate the look of it, but if the weight of the shell smooths it out like when I load up at home depot, then its worth it.
