Who Will Make Me A Reciver Tire Carrier?

I remember a thread about these a few months back, but I have a second gen 4Runner. The features I would need are as follows:

Fits into 2" reciver
Can hold between a 31x10.50 to 33x10.50 tire on a Toyota 4Runner bolt pattern wheel (15x7 or 15x8)
Folds back 90 degrees
Secures with hitch pins
Tire sits as low as possible, but provides some clearance with the body
Can be steel or whatever
Does not need painted
Does not need provisions for a liscense plate
Must allow the safe use of a reciver shackle at the same time
Departure angle does not scare me so it can hang down a little or go out a little.
And of course, fits decent (not a lot of rattle), looks ok and is functional

This may seem like a lot but the past ones I have seen seem simple, problem is I don't even know someone with a welder.

I would need this by June and would pay $100 minimum plus shipping.

Any takers?

There's your problem. I built one to take to the CO4RJ in 2002 and junked it before the trip for just that reason.

Thanks for the tip.

I'm pretty tolerent when it comes to my 4Runner. I do a lot of thing that would make most people faint. As long as it dosen't sound like the Krylon delivery truck ya know.

I have something similiar to what your talking about. Its still a work in progress. The only thing is, is that it does not fold back. I figure if I need anything from the back I can just reach over the seat from the inside, or if need me remove the tire/tirecarrier by just pulling out the pin. Keep it on only for trail use. Otherwise tire goes under the rig.

I was thinking I getting some type of rubber material to wrap around the tire carrier where it inserts into the reciever. This would reduce the side to side movements as well as cushion any sounds it may produce. True, after time the rubber linning would wear down, but then it could just be replaced, pretty cheap.

I'm just waiting on my bumper to get the final measurements and it should be done pretty soon after that.

Yes, I was thinking the same thing. I have several sheets of 1/8" thick rubber that I could attach to help with the rattle. I think with a little tinkering it would be fine.

Did you know that Hitch Haul makes a reciver tire carrier. They have them in JC Whitney for around $50, they don't fold or I would get one.

yeah but I don't think its strong enough to tug on. I already have one. it just needs to be modified to accomadate the new higher bumper, and have a better deparcher angle, instead of just a 90 degree bend

I see, the issue of still using the hitch as a recovery point is an important one.

Envy...

I would love a rugged rear bumper with a swing-away tire mount. Unfourtunetly if I got one it wouldn't matter much because the credit union would have to repo my 4x4 when I was too broke to make the payments. Someday, someday.
