x2. I need full specs. Your rig is inspirational (and a threat to my wallet)
Those CVs look super straight! Do you have a diff drop? What gears?

lift is the Tundra 2WD coils with the top out spacer, about 2.5" of lift, maybe less. The rear is the same old Downey 3.5" springs which have sagged to 2-2.5". That plus a 1.5" BL and some trimmed front fenders, they do not rub, but we'll have to see once I get them off the pavement. I'll have to trim the rear, but not much, just that lip at the bottom of the rear doors.
No diff drop, it doesnt fit with my skid plate. The gears are 4.88 with a 2.7L. Needless to say, it's pretty slow, but I can maintain 70 on the fwy, the 5 speed helps. |

Looks good Casey.
Now come on up and let's hit Rowher. Actually...let's make a run right after a storm so there's some mud and snow to make things interesting. I wanna see how them Intercos do, they seem nice.

Looking good. I was going to ask if you had to trim those fenders!
I like the bumper with the SS hoops... looks bad ass.

Do you have any close-up pics of the trimmed fender? Mind sharing?

I see your sig says 2wd with 4wd running gear. May I ask how you did that and why you decided to do that rather than just sas it? Any tips?

Casey, very sick dude. Those tires look bad. Let us know how they wheel, ride on road, etc...look like a good choice.

Thank you all for the kind words!
I haven't been around for a while since I flopped my truck in AZ, not that I am bitter in any way because of it, but it was more of an omen for me to take a little time off and focus more on getting done with school so I can start making some real money. I can post some pics of the trimming in a little bit, but its really not much, just a little of the fender and some pinch weld flattening. The rear is what is going to need some trimming, but like I said, a very small amount. As for not SAS'ing it back in the day... at the time there was maybe 1 or 2 who had SAS'd a 3rd gen and let's be honest, they weren't the best SAS's I've seen especially in the last 2 years. Plus, I was wheeling with 2WD, IFS is still 10x better than 2WD. It has taken me everywhere from The Rubicon to Moab, Colorado and Arizona twice and been able to do 4.5/5 trails with minimal problems (except the flop haha). And the swap to IFS was easy, did it in a weekend and spent about $5-7K less than a SAS. |

Pass. Side:
![]() Driver's side: ![]() In these pictues it looks like there is a lot more trimmed off than there really is. It was probably only 1/8-1/4" that I took off at most. |

They are much quieter than my worn out MT/Rs, that is for sure.
I am not afraid of rubbing, as I think it will be minimal. It LOOKS really close, but it really isnt, there is plenty of room for movement up front. Here's the way I see it... When I first got 33's, I trimmed for them and never rubbed even off road. Then I got the crawler which forced me into a BL which is a 1.5" one. So these tires are the SAME width as my 33's and 1" taller, so in theory, I should have .5" more clearance than with my 33's pre-BL. Wheels are American Racing Baja 15x8's with 3.75" backspacing (I think). They have a ton of rock rash on them and are having a hard time holding air for more than 2 days. I want beadlocks, but dont have the dough. So it must wait... Last edited by Nitro Hotpants; 01-23-2007 at 03:04 PM. |
