White Paint

I have a white 4runner and it needs a bit of body work and it has some rust stains that I would like to get rid of. Does any body have any tips or tricks to match the paint so its not so obvious, what can I use to remove the rust stains.
Thanks

White is hard to match, doesn't seem like it would be but it is. Your best bet is to have a body shop do some spray outs to see what matches best and then blend any adjacent panels if your repair is close to other stock paint.

Is the rust bubbling and bleeding through the paint? Or is something else rusting and bleeding down a panel? It's always best to eliminate/repair what is rusting before it gets beyond the point of repair, and that will keep you from having to remove rust stains on your paint in the future. If it's just on your paint from something else and not bubbling up, a good rubbing compound and/or polish as suggested will take care of it.

The tailgate has the usual rust in the corner which has bubbled and has bled down aswell as the rust check holes they drill in the door sills are bleeding as well. I was hopeing for a home remedy, you know like a can of coke and steel wool
Thanks Guys

Ahhh, home remedy. How about sanding it down and roll on some Gator Guard and call it good? If that doesn't work, get some dark sunglasses so you don't see the rust anymore. Kind of like turning up the radio when you hear squeaks and rattles.

Seriously though, I sprayed some Raptor bedliner on my 4runner and it's tough as nails. I just bought some tintable Raptor to mix with my paint to spray the rockers and lower doors for chip protection and the added bonus of corrosion prevention. You could find an automotive paint shop that would find a pretty close match to your white, mix it with the Raptor, spray it on and maybe(?) be happy with it? I know it won't be shiny and nice but it would be a home remedy that if done right would last. As for a rust treatment, I can only say that you should NOT use a product called OSPHO. I read great things on restoration sites about it and when I used it as directed it was just a greasy mess that did nothing for converting light rust as advertised. FYI.

Good luck on your quest.
