Whining after putting timing belt on.

Whining after putting timing belt on.
Help please. Just replaced the timing belt on my 03 Toyota Tacoma. Had a little trouble but overall went smoothly. I just turned the truck on and it had a rough idle. After awhile the idle started to smooth out, but when running at 2K RPM and above it squeals like I have a super charger on my no super charger V6. Is this normal?
Quick response would be great. Wife has to drive it tomorrow.
Thanks!

No, whining or squealing is not normal. Neither is a rough idle if you just replaced the belt. If it's the same belt, and you put it on the same way as the old one, why do you think it would care and idle roughly?

thanks for that it is still whining a little it has quitted down a little. I was wondering if the belt just needed to be seeted or if there was something wrong with the install it was a new belt from GATES #T271. The vehicle just does not sound the same as it did with the old one that was removed yesterday with 142000 miles on it.

Did you count the teeth on both belts? Were they both same length? (minus stretch of a fraction of an inch)
I don't like at all the rough idle after changing it. It should not happen if the change was quick and nothing else touched.

Check the the TB guideplate on the crankshaft under the lower TB cover. This guideplate is dish shaped and goes on one way. If it is put on backwards it will dig into the new TB and cause a similar whine. Seen this on a 3.0 one time and the TB was worn down to about 1/2 " wide. Bottom line, redo and check everything and make sure its right.
