While Accelerating, odd vibration

Hey guys.
I dunno if anyone else has this problem, but I'm taking my rig to the dealer on monday to get my axle and diff looked at, and this odd thing is happening as well that I was lookup for some advice with.

When I accelerate quickly, and the engine rev's to about 3000 rpms, I start to get an odd vibration from the engine. It's very strange. It only happens though when I accelerate quickly. I think it could be my fuel filter not getting enough gas to the engine, but could that be it?

Oh yeah, I've got a 99 Automatic 4unner.

Thanks!!

Kevin.

Fuel Filter is a good start. Don't take it to the dealer yet, replace the fuel filter yourself. Its a matter of un-scewing two connectors, 15 minutes, and $20 at Auto-Zone. The filter is directly under the driver's side floor board.

How many miles you have? Does it happen when you accelerate from a stop? Does it feel like a hesitation? If the fuel filter doesn't solve it, it may be bad gas, or a coil pack ma be going bad.

Thanks for the advice. I'll try to do the filter change tonight.
My rig's got 102,000 km's on it. Not too sure what that is in miles...

It happens when I acelerate from a stop or anytime for that matter when I try to get er to move quickly. Highway passing and such. I was going to try to go to a higher octane gas, but with the gas prices where they are right now, it's gonna cost like 80 bucks to fill up on medium... jeez...

I noticed that it was fine for a while when I changed my plugs, but the vibration soon came back again.

Hey how muchis gas down there in the Windy City??

Thanks for your help.

Kevin.

Kevin,

Gas here in the Windy City (suburbs) is about $1.60 for mid-grade. It fluctuates daily, one day it will be $1.40, next day it can be $1.80.

Anyway, when you mean vibrate, do actually mean the engine is physically vibrating, or the engine is sorta sputtering? Also, check all of you vacuum line to make sure they are all connected. I changed my plug wires last week and left one of the vacuum lines off and the engine began to mis fire a bit.

P.S. Is your Check Engine light on?

Good Luck,
David

You also mentioned that it went away when you changed your plugs - maybe one of the coil packs is faulty and fouling up the plugs. This could be causing a mis-fire.

What is the intensity of your vibration? Does this happen if you rev it in N or P?

Gas is the same here too.
On the weekend it was at 59 cents a liter, then it popped up to 72.... shesh... nice to know that we're not the only ones taking the wild ride of inconsistent gas prices... haha

The engine isn't sputering. Rather vibrating very quickly. My engine light isn't on so I I don't think I'll be able to pull a code. I think that it could be a case of the engine running to lean under load, but I'm not sure if that the right symptom or not.

Do you know if there's any way to check the coil pack with a ohm meter at all? Or would the stealership have to check that? As for the vibration happening in park or N, I actually haven't tried that. I will though tonight.

thanks guys.

Kevin.
