I believe the torque peak is 3600 RPMs and mine moves pretty well at that RPM. The low end torque on the 3.4 is a lot better than the 3.0 but in my opinion the 3.0 pulls better on the top end. My 3.4 is pretty much done at just before 5000 RPMs.

Ironically I thought most people thought the 3.0 was a much torquier motor than the 3.4. I know the 3.4 has a lot more torque than the 3.0, but the 3.0 for what it is, is a relatively torquey motor in my opinion anyways. The 3.0 in my truck, which is bone stock, seems to choke out in the upper rpm band. What I personally attribute to, anyways, the fact that the exhaust manifold is a little restrictive and it backs up a bit maybe choking out the engine preventing it from really pulling hard in the higher rpm band because it can't exhaust, the exhaust, as fast as it could/should. Consequently I don't generally rev my truck past 4000, and rarely past 3200 say unless I'm on the highway or hammering the throttle to pass someone or something. It's mainly becuase I don't see any advantage to hammering it any harder than say 3200-3500 rpm's. The engine doesn't seem to pull any harder or move any faster. I think once I put an aftermarket exhaust on my truck will it really start to pull in the upper rpm band though from whom I know, what I've read and hear. I guess we'll see sometime in the Springtime.

That will change based on a number of things... If you change the exhaust components (one or more of adding headers, add a highflow cat, or a highflow muffler); change the size of the exhaust piping (up or down from the stock 2.25"); increasing air flow (like you found, but more radically like with a supercharger); adjusting the timing (requires a "piggy back" box); and a couple of other things.
