Where to get longer U bolts?
Hi Everybody,
I bought myself some add-a-leafs to rid my 87' first gen 4Runner of its butt sag and I now I need longer U bolts. I was wondering if anyone knows the dimensions. I know that my springs are 2.5 inche's wide, so I assume the U bolts will be something like 2 5/8 inside width? I was able to measure the length of the bolt to the inside of the U and place it at about 5.5 inches. I don't however know what diameter the bolt is.
I talked to a place in my town that will make custom bolts but they want 63 bucks for 4!!! And I went to Napa and Shucks with out luck. Got any ideas who might have some?
Here's a recap of my questions:
Inside width of U bolt?
Is 6 inch U bolts long enough, or should I go for longer?
What diameter is the U bolt?
Where can I get them?
Thanks for your time, I know a couple of you guys have put on add-a-leafs too so your insite would be great!!

I went with the custom made u-bolts when I did the mod to my 85 pick up. I added 1" just to be sure, overall lenght 6.5" If i remember right they took a 7/8" socket this should give you the bolt dimension. The inside width is measured center to center. get under the rig a use a micrometer or a measuring tape, if you use a tape skip the first inch just don't forget the subtract it from your final measurement. If there is a tractor shop in your area, John Deere, they can usually find u-bolts to you specification with the strength you need. I think they are grade 8.

Just go to AutoZone. They are called "Suspension Performance" brand or something along those lines. They sell them alone, or with lift blocks. I have them on my truck and they work just fine.
