there have been double cab pickups in every generation, 1st, 2nd and 3rd

Everywhere else in the world double cabs have been around since early 80's

You probably saw a Hilux, do a Google search on it... It even comes in diesel.

The one I saw looked like it was about the same generation as what would have been in production at the time. I'm not too familiar with the different models of Toy trucks, and I had never seen a double cab in anything but the most recent generation of Tacomas (not the upcoming one, the current one).

Its funny you posted that Bob. I had one night flight stay over in Karachi, Pakistan back in 1995 and on the drive to the hotel I saw one driving down the street. It had a missle launcher mounted in the back of it. I have no idea if it was surface to air or surface to surface. But that was one scary site to see guys who can't even read or write having that kind of power at the push of a button.
