Hello, Ladies and Gentermen...My family of three just concluded a long road trip (took I5 - Kent,Wa. to Sn. Diego and the Route 101 way back home). For that 3k+, trip I went trough different types of road surfaces and drove at varying speeds. I observed that at 70-75mph+ i got this steering wheel vibes on slightly rough to rough pavements. At smooth to super smooth surfaces the steering wheel vibration was non existent. With this thorough observations, I wonder if my tires(Bridgestone Dueler Alenzas) needs re-balancing since they are fairly new. Your feed back is very much appreciated! - Gene

Check our steering rack bushings replacement thread in the 3rd gen section! Could be ( likely ) that also.

2 things come to mind.

Either you were getting a washboard effect when it was vibing or you tires do need balancing.

I would get them balanced as it only costs a few $$ and then you will know they are right.

With regards to steering rack bushings, I replaced them(together with my swaybar and links) with the poly ones a year back when I'm trying to solve my lingering steering wheel jerk when i hit bumps or potholes.

Actually I had some previous posts regarding my other problem. But to answer your question - unfortunately, NOPE, it didn't! The jerk/vibration on my steering wheel when i go through bumps/potholes/railway tracks(i hate it) still here and i'm just trying to live with it.

i rotate & balance mine at every oil change.but i wrk at a dealer & can run the balancer my self.i would at least rotate every 5k-6k & rot & bal every
10k-12k miles.most places that sell tires will do them for free as part of their service
