Wheels For My 97 Tacoma

Hey i am new to the fourm, i have looked around and searched a little bit i see a few things about wheels. I would like tooo see some pictures of good looking wheels you guys are running. i have the factory wheels that are really bad looking in my opinion. It gonan be time soon for new tires and i figure i will change rims as i get tires. right now my rim is a 15 inch. so a 15 or maybe a 16 would be fine with me. I like the mickey thompson II's but i would like to have chrome over pholished Alm. becuase i will admit i am lazy and i hate to pholish. LOL i have Alm. wheels on my 94 toyota truck and i like them but i dont like cleaning them. so i believe i want to go with chrome. I am more into looks with my truck then alot of offroading. sooo show me sum pictures guys and give me your advice i would like to hear from you.

I am also looking for a bull bar/ safarie bar... to place a few lights on but i cant find it for the 97 only 98.... any mods that i can do to make one fit and still look nice?

thanks guys.

Yeah, I don't blame you for not wanting to polish! You could always get some black steelies if you don't have your heart set on bling. Whatever finish you choose I'd stick with 15's though. 16 inch tires will only cost more and we're lucky because we have no caliper clearance issues with the 15's since they were factory spec.

Oh yea you got a nice looking turck!!! well i probaly have to end up with the mickeys i like the wheel just not the part about being chrome. I would like to lift my truck, but i am a tight wad and i dont wanna pay for the gas HaHa. i will go to the 31 x 10.50 wheels which will cut me all that i want to be cut with gas. right now i average 19.50 mpg around town and i think thats doing great! to be a 4x4 i am guessing with the bigger wheels i will drop down to about 16mpg. i hope no less then that! I like the black steel wheelies also, but i like the shine more. I polished out my whole front grill. its chrome underneath the black paint. a little asotone and the black will wipe right off. and the truck already had the chrome door handles and such on it. but i have always liked my chrome.

I am pretty knew to the 4x4 thing, as far as changing things to make it look better, i am just after sum things to make it look and sit a little better. any suggestions?

16x8 Pro Comp Xtreme Alloys 1069 with 285/75R16 BFG AT KO's

As was said, stick with 15's. The wheels and tires will be less expensive than 16's. As far as polishing aluminum, check this out:

It is a temporary clear coat. I have a complete unused kit for sale if interested. It would keep your wheels looking brand new much longer than polishing alone. Plus you wipe them off like chrome to clean

Gas mileage, BAH! With a 2.7 5 speed, 35's and 4.88's, I consistently hit 20 mpg! That's about half city and half highway.

As far as mods, just look around here! You'll find plenty of ways to spend (BLOW) your money!

4peanut nice looking 4 runner.. and thanks for the polishing info. Paul thanks for the light bar info. hoping to find chrome and hopefully the 3 inch tubing. but to my luck so far i have only found that style for a 98 or newer, or for a tundra.

Paul i see your from NC also thats kool. along with 93toy and I

93toy i only get about 19.5 mpg now. i guessing its gonna get worst with bigger tires. i have the extra cab 3.4 L V6

Also 93toy did you have to drill holes in your bumper to mount the lights? i am guessing you did, or they would not stay to well with out be screwed down. i not sure if i wanna drill holes in my bumper. thats why i was after a light bar. But i do kinda like the look the way u have it.

Yeah, just drilled into it. The first carving on your truck is always the hardest, but it gets easier!
