Wheel and Tire question...

well right now i have a set of 15x8 ultra type 87 wheels... im currently running 31x10.50R15LT trail climbers on them... this winter i plan on installing a 3" body lift and running 33x12.50's... what my question is can i still run my 15x8's or do i need a wider set of wheels...

They will work fine. The tire will be a little taller than if mounted on a 10" rim. They will be much less prone to bead failure if you air'm down, and the rim is protected from rock rash too.

alot of people around here run 33x12.50 BFG mud terrains. but they're kinda pricey. i'm running dunlop mud rovers on my rig. although they are only 31x10.50, i like them alot and i'm sure they'll be even better in the bigger size. good luck.

Generics, my favorite tires always. Mastercraft and roadmaster (cooper generics) make great A/T and M/T tires. i am gettin a set of those in 32's for just over 400 bucks. retail is closer to 475 on them, but damn thats a deal. i've driven on them and really like them and the treads clean out well.

here is the A/T

here is the M/T

GoodYear MT/R - works better in all conditions than a BFG, better sidewall, the only complaint I've had is roundness/balance, but that is prolly due to useage than anything else.

I disagree. While the MTR outdoes the BFG in slick rock (high traction surfaces), the BFG outdoes the MTR just about everywhere else. It's a toss up in puncture resistance but it's been my experience that the MTR's absolutely suck in the Oklahoma mud. They cake up like an AT. The BFG's cleans better thus making them a better tire selection for these parts. I make it farther in the mud with my Baja Claws than the MTR's ever thought about. Round here, if it don't say INTERCO on the sidewall, it's an all terrain. (yes, that goes for my claws too. They are A/T's here)

Tire selection is really dependant on where you live and the terrain you wheel.

No single tire model is "best" for all locations.

FIVEOFEEN: Get the M/T's. My brother runs Cooper knock offs and has had great luck (no punctures) and mileage from em. In fact, his Cooper knock off M/T's had 75-80k on em before he replaced em with an identical set. That's alot of miles on a M/T!!!
