Wheel suggestions: 16x8 4.5" backspacing rims and 285 tires.

Doing the Sonoran 7.2 (no heavy bumpers) at 2.5" lift. Want to run 285/75s and understand I need 16x8s with 4.5" backspacing. . .

Suggestions on wheels? Dont need bling, but looking for a rugged wheel in a silver/anthracite finish. (no chrome)

You don't want 4.5" backspacing...especially with a lift and bigger tires. Choose a wheel with 3.75" or 4" BS.

Are you wanting steel or aluminum? Is polished ok?

OK, thanks. Was going by prior threads on the topic. Steel or Al OK. Polished OK. Just no crazy bling.

Does reduced backspacing cause issues with steering accuracy?

Awesome. Those 1069s polished look sweet. I'll order them next week.

Now I have to decide b/t the Nitto Dune Grappler and the BFG AT's.

Thanks,

Depending on the tire, you could keep your stockers. Unless you're looking for a new wheel anyway, many 285's fit on the stock wheels.

A friend of mine just put a set of Pro Comp 7189s on his Jeep. Before he did, I rolled one up to my 4Runner and it looked really good.

BTW...nice taste in BMWs you have! Love the LTWs! My wife drives an E46 and I just got my '76 2002 out of the paint shop.

Thanks!

Sweet, post pics of the 02. They are awesome, though primitive, beasts. A local here and very active BMWCCA member races some monster 02's in club racing. He grafted an E36 chassis under the shell of a round taillight 02. Crazy. And wicked fast.

I had 4.25" on my 96 4Runner and it worked great

BTW, Rob, what's the total lift on your truck b/t the suspension and BL? Looks great but was thinking of just doing just the suspension lift if I can get away with it and still run 33's like yours (either the BFG ATs or Nitto Dune Grappler for my application).

I have between 4.75 and 5.25" of lift (4.75 being the front) so 2.75 and 3.25" of suspension lift. If you still rub you could always get a 1" body lift for around 150 from 4Crawler, but the 4" backspaced wheels should keep you from rubbing

the Pro Comp 8069 has a 3 5/8 backspacing that is SWEET! No need for major trimming with 35" tires and the SS 1 lift kit. Pics to come.....
