Wheel spacers are a pretty good fix in my opinion, especially if you like the look of the toyota rims. I bought a 1.5" set from marlin crawler about 8 months ago for $150, and have been really pleased with them. Looks a hundred times better and still rides well!

My steel 1 1/4" spacers are now some 12 years old and seen a lot of abuse. Mostly on 15x10 with 33's.
The last 5 years they have been on the front of my SAS'd 4R. I never had to replace a wheelbearing and they never got loose so they are okay in my book. I bought a set of aluminium 1.5" spacers in 2005 , put them on the rear of my LC80 axle and found the first crack within 2 weeks Still running them and waiting to see if my 305/70 Yokohama can overtake me...

That's exactly what I heard about the aluminum spacers. I'm leaning towards steel so far.

Got some 1.5" bolt on spacers from All-Pro. Top notch IMO. I love the look of the tires coming out a little. Its not low-rider mexi style or anything (nothing against mexicans, i love them!) No problems at all.

Are spacers bad on the wheel bearings?

Stay away from the cheapo slip on 1/4" spacers and buy quality bolt on units from Marlin or All Pro.

Not doubting it, just wondering... how would the wheel spacers effect the wheel bearings?
Is there any real difference between rims that have less backspacing and bolt on wheel-adapters (spacers).

Moves the wheel mass out farther from the hub which puts more stress on things like wheel bearings. Less backspacing on wheels and wheel spacers do essentially the same thing, just in different ways.

Thanks for the thoughts guys and gals! The last thing I want to do is start replacing wheel bearings so I'll probably just steer clear of the spacers and leave it stock.

I would PM Rtdawgs b/c he has been running wheel spacers (1.5" I think) for a while and see if he has had any problems.
