Wheel size/bolt pattern?

I did an archive search but came up dry. I'm looking to replace my stock wheels and tires with MT/Rs soon. While I'm planning to install new suspension first for a little extra lift, I'm curious what size wheels to order.

What wheel width, bolt spacing and back spacing are right for a '99 4Runner? I know a quick phone call to a wheel supplier would probably yield the right info, but somehow there's ALWAYS better information to be gleaned on this site from those who've gone before!

Thanks!

Assuming you have 16" wheels and that you'll go with 285's:

16x8" wheels

6/5.5 bolt pattern

4.25-4.5" back spacing, although I believe 4" would work as well

Thanks, Darren.

285s would REQUIRE some lift, right? They wouldn't fit on a stock Runner, would they?

Correct. 2" lift minimum.

I also should have said that 7" wide wheels will still work should you prefer to stay with the same size, but everyone goes with 16x8's when they upgrade wheels. I'll be going with the Mickey Thompson Classic II's myself fairly soon.

I agree with Darren, I would go with at least 2" of lift if not closer to 3" just o be on the safe side, get bakspacing of at least 4.75" closer to 4.5 or 4, your tires will stick out alot mre but it yeilds a goodlook if you ask me and it get those MT/Rs away from the control arms where they are more likely to rub the most. I would also recomend the MT wheels, those were the ones I was going to go with before I thought about going all black and getting the black steal tech 1s. My only difference with Darren would be to get 15x8 wheels instead of the 16s I prefer the way 15s look and that tires for them actully cost a bit less, and they make the tires look a bit bigger, more or less it is personal prefence but that's just my .02. Good luck, and keep us updated, and pcis. of course.
