I ended up going to Checker and spent $55. It's pointless spending too much on a battery since the life expendency of batteries (around here)is around 2 years. I worked(several years ago) at Sears auto center when I was in the auto repair biz and it was unusual to see batteries last much longer. Every once in awhile we'd see one with 4 or 5 years on it.
The replacement I just did was almost 2 years to the day with mine.

My bone stock toyota lasted just over 4 years in AZ......so I bought another.
Now that I moved rust is the enemy .
I'll take dead batteries any day.

El Paso is just as hard on batteries. My buddy opens the hood of his car whenever he pulls into the garage, just to keep the battery from cooking.
I get my batteries at Sam's Club and have never had one of their Champion's last more than a couple of years. This last one must have cracked or something, because electrolyte (sulfuric acid) leaked all over the engine compartment.
Sam's got a new style of battery in that looks identical to the Orbit batteries and runs about $100. I bought one. We'll see how it does.

in my 91 Jeep Wrangler I put in a Exide Orbital select, which is basically an Optima battery, It wa like $125, but because my old battery was an exide I was able to bring it back for credit towards the new one. So far it's been good, but it hasn't been a year yet, It's garage kept
If you go off road these batteries are good because the steep angles don't cause the acid to leak out and cause a big mess, thats what was happening in the Wrangler
