What's the best Air/Fuel Ratio Meter?
I've seen the ARM1 and some others being used, but what do you all think is the best unit for the money?

I'm not saying it's the best, since I have no experience with anything else, but I just put in an Autometer Air/Fuel gauge (Phantom series) and an Autometer EGT gauge (Phantom series) and they both work well for me.

Do you know exactly what model number you purchased, because upon looking at their site, there are a few different ones in the Phantaom series. Also, where did you mount them?
Thanks,
Chris

Unfortunately theres not much alternative to the autometer stuff, they are one of the only makers of that guage. You will pay around $60-$75 for the air fuel, and around $110 for the EGT gauge, maybe more if you buy a "phantom" egt. Check autometer.com for a full list of part numbers.

Thanks! I've looked at their site and I've noticed some of them have memory. Do you guys recommend these over the one that don't record the highest and lowest points reached. Is it a waste of money or a good tool to tweak things out a tad?

If this is a problem, we can take this outside!! Just kidding! If it's too long, I can reduce it. I just like reading everyone's signature to see the differences between what people are running. But, if it's too long, please let me know!

What about it? It's sitting in my garage ready to be installed, once I can convince my wife that she'll let me buy it! Go ahead and laugh!

You know what, I'd buy the cheapest AF meter you can find. They're all "narrow band" AF meters and sensors so the resolution on them is miserable. I'd actually say your money would be better spent on an EGT gauge. I've got a wide band FJO in the mail being sent to me as we speak and once installed I'll post how it does.

Let's get together if you'd like. Plus, I'd like to see what a supercharged 4Runner is really like.

ravencr:
The gauges I bought are:
ATM-5755 2 1/16 electrical air/fuel ratio meter (Phantom series) $54.95 from summitracing.com
I also bought the Phantom Series EGT with probe (ATM-5744) from summit for $135.95
Both are mounted in an Integra dual gauge pod (ATM-20111 for the gray version) on my a-pillar
BTW, there isn't a big difference in the Pro-Comp, Phantom, and Ultralite series of gauges. The air/fuel gauge is available in all of these series, but have a different face color depending on series (e.g. the Phantom is white face with black bezel, Pro-Comp is white face with silver bezel). They are all mechanically the same.
I'll try and get my friend's digital camera this weekend and take some pictures

Yeah, he came over last night and he had no clue either what was going on with my truck. At any rate, I'm almost 100% convinced I'm going to buy the SMT-6 from Louie as soon as the Windows version is ready to go. Are you and Creed getting the dos version? Louie said that the SMT-6 has more hardware features, and the SS FTC1-E's software is better. What I asked him was whether or not he thinks it's just because the SMT-6 is dos versus windows and whether the SMT-6 windows software will be equivalent or better than the existing FTC1-E software. It Louie comes back and says it will be just as good, then I'm definitely buying the SMT-6. It's also allmost half the price, which is another benefit.

Chris, I have no problems working in DOS.
Sure, the Windows software is pretty and the point and click interface would be a nice feature, but it's not a deal breaker for me. I am confident they'll iron it out shortly, but by then I'll probably be set up already and won't need it.
It really makes no difference to me whether the Windows Version is better or not. I'm interested in the hardware features and tweakability of the unit. Since the SMT-6, in my mind, is a much better product than the SS FTC, which is of no use to me anyway, I'm buying it.
Even if I get a SC one day, I'm still going to be okay and not need to buy another piggy-back.
Later!

I think you are right, Dr, Z. I'm just going to wait for the windows software, I beleive. After talking with Louie and hearing all your comments, I agree that the SMT-6 is a better all around and tunable product. Especially, because I would lik to do a similar water injection system as Creed using the additional injector controller.
