What would the ideal parts website have?

Hello everyone,

I own a 1998 4-runner, and I was wondering what parts, web features, design ideas that any of you may have for what you would think would be the best Toyota 4-Runner and truck website? I know there are a lot of companies out there that sell parts for out vehicles. But, I have yet to find a site that contains all the possible parts that we like to have on our trucks.

So, for all you parts hungry folks out there, what manufacturers would you like to see on a new web site? Specialty parts, regular parts, web site features, etc? Let's talk about it!!

No responses, yet, heh? Well, let me put it to you this way. I would like to build a web site for use by everyone on this site and others that could benefit us all in being able to purchase products at reasonable prices. Now, I know that sounds good to me, doesn't it anyone else? Surely, you all have parts you have or want that you wished or wish you could find cheaper, right?

Parts...

Jeez, where should we start. I'd envision a front end where you put in your vehicle info, then all the following pages are specific to the vehicle chosen. All the usual stuff could be on there (at a nice discount of course). Suspension, engine goodies, lighting, armor, bumpers, roof racks, etc. I think something that would be a great differentiator would be hard to find stuff, parts needed for homegrown mods, and obscure items. How about setting up a conduit to find used parts (through network of Toy salvage yards). I'm sure that there is plenty more we can think of.

That's great input. The more details the better. If you'd like to add more details, please do. Your ideas are great so far. Keep 'em coming!

I'm planning on building it myself, but I'll keep you in mind if things get too busy! Thanks for the offer, though!

Either way, let me know what I can do to help, I've been in PHP for a few years now.

I like the idea of specifying your vehicle and having the respective parts/options come up.
Hmmmmmmmmm might seem dumb, but detailing products? ie. cleaners, washes, waxes, Corey Cables (Special Edition)

I thought prOn was a kind of fish. Maybe that is Prawn. Every website should sell that.

Leave it to me to find Prawn Porn!!!

All funny stuff, guys! But let's get back to the main message if we can. What would the ideal Toyota 4-runner and Truck web site have? What parts? What functions? And, especially, what specialty parts?

I would suggest a selection of different brands of stuff:
ie: headers, several manuf.
Have them all, rather than just one, so we have options.

Also I would say body parts, such as taillights, headlights, bumpers, and such, for those of us who would like their Runner to look newer than it is.

Have pictures of the products, because I for one, wont buy much without being able to see it first.

Great comments! My initial idea was to have only the best products for each application, but that would have to based on opinions of members of this forum, etc. More products to choose from the better, probably. Doing that would require a comprehensive rating system, which would be very cool, don't you think?

Well, I'd say, if you could open accounts with the following companies, it would be a great website:
TRD
Split Second
JAOS (or a link to Jason Burtman's website)
Bilstein (gotta have shocks)
Addco
PIAA or Hella
Husky Liner
Amsoil (or a link to Gadget's website)
Perfect Power
ARB or TJM
Smittybilt, Manik, etc.
There's more, but I can't think of them right now

In addition, there should be links to people that already have websites for just this sort of thing:
Extreme Off Road
Burtman Industries
Again, there's more, but I can't think of them

Being in the UK and buying parts from overseas as I do you need good full size pics of the items. With dimensions if possible.

good luck with the site
