What will my 4Runner run in the 1/4 mile?

Mods are listed below and the Nittos are D load rated and I'll be running spareless and of course with no basket on the roof. Also remember the altitude which is 5800ft asl.

So,guess my 1/4 and trap speed.

If I don't run an 18 I'll be disappointed. The last time at Bandi I was running low 13s with a trap of 103mph in my 1st gen Eclipse so this'll be quite a drop of time but how big a drop is anybody's guess.

I think you might be able to get a 17.5.. youd beat me because of my mtrs. somebody with some good 18 inch wheels and performance tires could prob run a good 16.6 or so with some intake and throttle body mods.

def post up the slip.

my bros dodge omni glh turbo is running low 10s right now but its 2k pounds with 345hp at the wheels. little scary to ride in.

17.5 will be imposssible at this altitude which slows things down by close to a full second or more compared to sea level as were 600ft above a full mile high at the strip. I did see a SC'd Tacoma pull a mid 16 back in '00. If I squeeze anything under 18 I'd be ecstatic but I'm hoping just to be under a mid 18.

Well,I was literally the only 4Runner out there of several hundred trucks and a whopping total 4 Toyotas running period and I was the only 4wd.
Well,my 1/4 sucked but I was consistent as I ran three 19.2s@73mph which now marks the slowest vehicle I've ever raced but I had fun and hung out with the only other Toyotas there.
One of which was a Tacoma X-Runner which ran a 15.9@86mph which should be a high 14 or at least a 15 flat asl.

Dude, I was at the Truck show with my 99 Limited, but I was working in the Five-R booth. I was going to run it...but I only saw a Tundra, and wasn't sure!! Sorry I missed you!

If you bought the 4runner because you wanted a fast vehicle... you were missinformed. Why not just keep it the great offroader that it is and use something else as a real track-worthy vehicle. Just my opinion, I mean i drive pretty agressively but have no intentions of ever racing my 4runner.

No,no,I think you took my intention of this thread wrong as I raced just this once to visit the strip and see some old track buddies but I was curious to see how slow my truck actually was but I was really hoping for an 18 at least.

I've got over 12 years of drag racing under my belt and 8 of it was in the aforementioned Eclipse which was over 6 seconds quicker so I know what's fast and the 4Runner isn't even close,it's purpose will continue to to be on the trails and getting dirty.

I actually switched to a 4Runner to keep me out of trouble as I've got a lead problem in my foot hence the sale of the Eclipse, now my driving record is clean again and my insurance is much lower.

I don't think going bigger with wheels would help at all, that'd jsut increase wheel weight.

Smaller wheels actually are better due to less tire to make the full revolution.

^ thats definitely true.
----------

To all the haters,
I have no idea what my '96 does in a 1/4 mile and to be honest i don't really care. However, i do at times have a lead foot and have often wondered if i could beat another 3rd gen and even many other vehicles on the road. It's the thrill that gets the best of me. If i had a S/C I'd probably be in a world of trouble.

Racing to me is not just about how fast your car is but more so the thrill of winning, the adrenaline rush, knowing what you and your rig is capable of and then seeing the end result wether it's good or bad.

Whats the point in doing all those intake mods if your not gonna put 'em to use, right? lol
As long as it's my DD (not a "hardcore" trail rig) i might as well have fun when the opportunity arises. Thats exactly what i thought X-AWDriver was doing since the beginning of this thread.

Just to name a few, take a look at what midiwall, <96 Runner>, Gadget , and TRDOLMAN have done. Then talk.

Id like to see a 3.slow at the strip. ooo man that would be funny. My 4runner has a little pep to it for driving downtown but it is nothing near fast. Since we are on the topics of tracks. I have a video me and my friend took at the local strip of a newer Chevy something. It was a 4 door, lifted, atleast 35s and was running consistent low 13s. Very impressive to watch. I did also see a NIssan Titan do a little version of a wheelie that night. Crazy rednecks and there trucks!!!!

X-AWDriver, I think it's awesome that you took your truck to the track. We're in Colorado, dammit, and there should be a whole seperate bracket for 4WD SUV's, maybe even one for subaru outback wagons...lol. So I think it's bold for you to get out there and make a couple passes. Good job dude! I'd like to see a blown Tacoma out there, like blowntaco on CoTTORA, who has some serious forced induction mods. maybe me one day, although my warn may as well be a boat anchor on the track...lol

really depends on what wheel you go with.. going with gay loooking rims yes they are more weight.. but you need less sidewall and the tire needs to be flat surface on the ground to full traction to drag. but Im not a real expert at all so I could be fully wrong. just an opinion.
