Dino Oil...I usually have the dealer change it....I'm moving back to Maryland soon and I'll probably start changing my own oil since I'll have a drive way to do it in....So I MIGHT switch to synthetic....If I do its going to be Mobil 1, since its so readily availible and gets good reviews....

You can go to the dealer with any oil you want and have them use that. Youll just pay for filter and labor..

Well I was doing some research a long time ago about oil and found that Amsoil is the only 100% sythetic oil.
I have a 93 Rx7 that I run 10w30 royal purple and the rest of the fluids are red line.
In my daily driver (94 mazda mx6) I use pennzoil high mileage 10w30.
-Mobil 1 is a decent oil but I don't believe it contains alot of additives to help with seals so it is more for newer engines IMO. I know that corvettes are recommended to use mobil 1.
-Castrol Syntec is similar to mobil 1.
-Castrol GTX is just like any other conventional oil, good for normal driving conditions, nothing special.
-Pennzoil Full Syn (Platinum, now)- is a good oil and I know that it coats better than mobil 1.
-Pennzoil SUV,Truck, and Minivan- overpriced conventional oil.

I work at a oil change station. =)
I don't know about dino + halvoline, but stay away from like kendall (recycled) and any other brands that you haven't researched.

there's definitely other full synthetics. redline and schaeffer come to mind. i'm pretty sure royal purple is as well.

i'm using carquest fleet plus 15w40 right now. good stuff, similar to delo 400. however when it's really cold, it makes my oil pump whine if i bump it off an idle right after starting, since it's trying to slurp that thick stuff.

about 2500 miles on the new engine, 2000 on this oil change -- i'm going to try amsoil 10w40 full synthetic next.

redline 7.5w-35 (half 5-30 and half 10-40, heard it was a good idea not too thick but enough high temp protection) when I get this flush over with.

Mobil 1 10w-30 all year round. I have an article about it somewhere. If I can find it in my toolbox at work then I will find the website and post it. Amsoil and Mobil 1 were the top 2.

You couldn't be more wrong about the above statements! Mobil 1 is PAO, its 100% synthetic.

I usually run something like that, too. Universal oil, works in gas or diesel engines (I have one of each), weight works well in my climate. I can't run anything less than 40W or my hot/idle oil pressure drops too low.

It is currently filled with some Mobil synthetic blend that I used for my recent smog check.

yep, and it's SL rated so it'll work just as well as any other oil in a gas engine.
