What are These Buttons?

This is a 2001 4runner Limited. I see through the steering wheel a button where the RR Diff Lock woudl be (but I thought that wasnt an option on 01's), and then to the left, two more buttons.

What might these be, based on teh year and the locations?

I'm willing to bet, the button where you think the RR Diff lock switch is, is actually the Center Diff Lock switch (same switch on mine). This switch looks the center diff when in 4wd. '01 and '02 4Runners had no oem rear locker option.

The button to the far left of steering wheel looks like the oem alarm light.

Can't tell what the other switch is...too hidden.

Edit: here's a picture of my center diff switch:

If you hit the button on the transfer case shifter you have put it into All-Wheel Drive. Once you hit the Center Diff Lock button you put it into true 4-Wheel Drive.

its not the same thiing as having a locker in the front or rear diffs. the center diff lock means an even 50/50 distribution of torque to the front and rear

FYI...The 2001 Limited he originally asked about has Toyota's electronic traction control (ATRAC). Not as good as the dual ARBs I have but better than standard open diffs.

Is it true that most transfer causes split the torque 50/50 when you put them in 4low? I remember someone telling me that.

The two buttons grouped to the far left are for heated seat controls. The one more to the centre is the centre diff lock

Center diff lock provides a 50/50 torque split between the front and rear. A rear locker does just that, locks the rear axle.

Just to point out, he never said either way if the vehicle belonged to him or not. It could simply be a 4Runner he's found for sale online that had pictures included in the ad. (Most people taking pictures of their vehicle, do not often take such a shot as what he's posted. IMO, it looks like an ad shot.)

2nd, if this 4Runner does happen to belong to him, chances are the manual has since been lost.

And yes, unclejstoy you are correct right. The manual is very specific as to what the Center Diff lock switch does.

Judging by the context of his post, I assume (as Rock Slide pointed out) that this is not his truck. If such was the case he would have taken a more accurate picture.

Notice the post counts on those guys??
