What size socket do need to remove rear shocks

For a 1999 4Runner, I'm talking about the top nut on the stem. Thanks

Assuming it's not a solid rust knot.....B'laster, a hex L-wrench and a box end wrench. I can't picture how you'd get a socket in there and keep the thing from just spinning.

14. A deep socket worked well for me, you might find good results with a short extension and a standard socket.

If you have a good amount of rust, then you might find it is easier to just cut the shock off instead of trying to unscrew the nut.

You want a 14mm mid socket, in between the length of a deep well and normal socket.

Ok, that's it, I'm going to have to go out in the cold to see what you guys are talking about. I must not be remembering it correctly.

Edit: No, it was as I remembered it. How are y'all keeping the rod from spinning while you loosen the nut? Open end ratchet? Or am I the only one special enough for that sort of problem?

Ah, gotcha. Pleased to give you a chuckle.
Think I'll stick to my little hex wrench then, or just cut it off if it's too rusty.
