What Size Shoes Under Basic OME?
I've been all over the place trying to decide on a lift kit that fits my needs best. Originally I wanted 1 inch PP springs with 265/75-16 Revos.
Now I'm leaning toward this basic OME from Xtreme:
One set of Old Man Emu front coils
One set of Old Man Emu front firm struts
One set of Old Man Emu rear coils
One set of Old Man Emu rear shocks
One set of Old Man Emu 5mm Trimpackers
Since I don't do much off-road, I think the softer struts/shocks would be best.
I'm now leaning toward 285/75-16 Revos, but being new to the game I don't know if they will fit. I'm willing to do the diff drop, but don't want to make any radical alterations.
Any thoughts out there in Yotatech land would be greatly appreciated !!

I have OME's all around, and after a few months my front has sagged a good noticeable amount. I'm not sure 285's would fit anymore, if I were to fit 285's, I'd probably go with a 1" BL (which I have waiting to get installed) or some spacers up front.
What I'm tryin to say is to expect the coils to sag quite a bit.
P.S. 5mm trim packers won't do crap, they're made to level out the d-side and p-side. Not to level front and back.
- from personal experience.

Fine
With an OME lift, yet depending on particular part numbers, as there are some differences, you should still be fine IMO with 285s as I cleared them easy with a 2" body lift.

OK, if OME springs are going to sag, why should I buy them? Seems to me that if the OME springs are 1.75 inch to begin with and then sag to 1 inch I might as well get PP springs that won't sag. I've heard the PP springs actually provide more than 1 inch of lift.
Any other mods besides the diff drop that I need to worry about??

You should still have around 1.5-1.75 " lift up front, and about 2.5 in the rear. AT least that's what I have.
As for the *other mods* diff drop is good, humm...I didn't do anythning else, didn't even make an e-brake bracket, or do a pan-hard. Everything still holdin up fine.

I was running 33x12.5 with no body lift or spacers for a little while. I had 2.5"+ in the front with firm and 3" in the rear with medium. The only sag that occured was with my winch and bumper and that was only in the front. To make up for the sag and fit 305/70s I added cornfed spacers. However when I remove my bumper/winch the front is much higher than the rear. The setup I am running has not lost any height in over 2 years over extreem abuse ranging from jumping to driving 50+ mph on the beech. Get it you and you will love the ride. My truck handled much better going up Beech Mountain after my lift and didn't lose any power going up hwy 105. I recomend hard up front and medium in the rear.
High Country 4x4 sells OME and they told me that they could have gotten it cheeper for me, but mine was already dirt cheep from www.4x4connection.com
Performance coils might as well do it right the first time with OME

Thanks Hyperlite - I'm going to go with the basic setup you suggested. When you suggest hard up front and medium in the rear I assume you mean shocks??
This is what I'm thinking and please tell me if it makes sense - I'm getting tires two inches taller than stock (285/75-16) which are 32.9 inches. Stock 265/70-16 are 30.9 inches. So with a roughly two inch lift I should have no problems. I will do the diff drop for sure.
Keep the advice coming - I can certainly use it. Sounds like everyone is down on PP springs

Also I'm pretty sure Hyperlite meant: "medium coils, medium shocks" in the rear.
I am still debating on the HD or MED in the rear too but I am leaning towards the HDs.

I would recomend getting 881 front coils and 890 rear coils I would also get firm shocks. I have comfort shocks and i think they are to solf. 880 front coils will not give you enough lift up front for 285's. If you get 881 front and 891 rear you truck will not sit level. You will have the hot rod look.
Hope this helps.
Better off to do it right the first time.

Thanks 4runner4me - I want to do things the right way the first time and sometimes get overwhelmed with all the freakin choices out there. I mean there is Daystar, Revtek, Performance Products, OME, Downy, etc. etc. etc.
I'm mostly on rural roads and need snow capability. I'm a bit ashamed to admit I also just simply like the way a mild lift looks. I don't go off road much, but would like to get into it more.
OME seems to make sense as I should get a comfortable ride, a little height, and the look I'm after.
MTL_4Runner - why are you leaning toward HD coils in back?
