what are the options for lifts on my 4runner?
i am new to this forum but have been around offroading for a while. i know that manufacturers dont sell big lifts for my runner but i know there is a way to either fabricate a mount for other coils or is there possibly coils that would fit easily without much fabrication?

welcome to the forum
now are you talking about a hawaii lift?
us mainlanders have a completely different idea of a lift than you guys in hawaii. recenlty we had a member come on and ask lift questions and we were quite astounded by the lifts you guys require for running in the soft sand.
the link kyle gave you is a good one. i recommend you snoop around the site and read up...alot! if you have follow up questions, ask away. but again, theres already alot of info on the forum.

thanks guys. yea i need a lift big enough to get me through some rugged pig trails. need lots of articulation ill try to get some pics of our trails. some are like 10 feet wide at the most with ruts as deep as 2-3 feet, not smooth descending ruts, steep small ruts. thanks again guys.

hey Kauai.
I am running the same thing you are and i run in PLENTY of soft sand in the sorta trails u run with. Hit me up with anything you try that gives you the best performace b/cv i am having serious trouble in soft sand, i had to go buy a manual winch to get me outta places (basicly, like a big ratcheting block and i run abour 3 pullys).

Any front tacoma suspenion will work, and after having done one on a 2nd gen runner I highly reccommend doing a real leaf swap. It will provide you with everything need from a rear suspension. I did mine for about 1K. That included all hardware, shocks, and springs. Of course it will cost more to have someone do the work. Also you could save $$ by using standard leaf spings, I had 56" alcans made.

thanks again. i have acces to miller welders, my friend also used to work for kauai toyota (local dealership) so i should be able to do the rear leaf swap. any pics and maybe a link to a installation procedure would be nice.

the sand over here is super soft, easy to get stuck, i see lots of 4runners staying off the beaches because i guess they are scared. luckily a friend of mine has a monster chevy. a 93 1500 i think 9 inches or so of suspensionlift, 38 traxxus tsl's, v8, so i can always get pulled if needed but i would like to run on my own. im gonna look into rear leaf swaps. thanks

Yea i wish i had a chevy. or any domestic Pickup... but life doesn't work that way, and suspention kits for runners are harder to come by then a Chevy. lol

Not sure what you would have to do on a 3rd gen, but in general terms the second gen was
remove anything dealing with coil setup that unbolts. take axle away from rig, using a plasma cutter remove everything, grind smooth and paint. Do the same on the rig, if it isnt needed remove it. I also removed the crossmember that held the springs, but I put a new tublar one in that held the shocks. Get some accurate measurement and weld stuff in place. The spring hangars are pretty easy, the shackles take more effort. Then you can locate the axle, weld the perches, and then the shock bar...All in all it was one long weekend. The only evidence of the stock suspension is the pass side upper link mount, its part of the gas tank mount....
Parts I bought
Springs, 56", Alcan (I didnt get allpros becuase runners are heavier than those are made for)
Shocks, RS99012's
Shackles, Allpro
Spring hanger/shacke hanger, toyota, 95
/\ shock tower, ORS

got some mini trail pics today, not that rough, easy enough for a chevy 1500 with only a body lift make it in(whcih i know is basically like stock). ill try get some pics up.
