What exactly does this Button do?

Hello I have an ECT Button on my dash.. it says when its pressed it has power.. Ive tried driving with it on and off. and really cant tell a difference.. can anyone explain to me how this is used.. and how I can tell its enganged?

it holds the tranmission in gear longer before shifting in to the next gear for better performance. :pig:

When its pressed, there should be a light on the dash that says ECT. I believe its green, just like the search button.

ECT stands for electronicly controlled transmission. normally the tranny is controlled by valves and oil preasure and stuff, but when ETC is enabled, the comptuer has full control of it.

its basic functions are: holds the gear longer and keeps the torque converter unlocked for a longer time, meaning the engine doesnt have to work as hard to accelerate, but your gas milage will drop a tad
