Well I am piecing together the last bits of my OEM lift... I am down to the final detail of sway bars... Now to be honest I have never cared much for sway bars. Took the front and rears out of the Bronco when I lifted, and we took the front out of my buddys 1988 Runner when we lifted it...

Now I have read that lots of people here feel that a 3rd gen is almost unsafe without one, and thats NOT my goal for this truck!!! Here is the setup... tundra coils with 2 spacers in the front, and 19.5" LC coils rear.

Front... whats the best way to go... have read lots saying that discos are not really worth it as diconecting the sway bar does not yeild that much extra flex... so whats is the best way to do this??

Rear... I was thinking of turfing it... if 5 links cant keep a solid axle there, then theres more problems than just a sway bar missing... but would like honest oppinions on that one too please!!!

ive still got factory links on my sways after i got it lifted. apparently you can get longer links or discos, but you already know the issue on that. havent had any issues so far with the factory links...but i may disconnect em and try it out for a day on the road and trail and see if its any better. but so far, my setup hasnt disappointed me. of course i havent really done any hardcore wheeling where id notice the lack of articulation. not sure either about having one bar on, and one off. im sure it'd push alot more without the rears on...

roadwise..not so sure. i mean its pretty sure-footed as it is of course as long as you dont drive thinking its a sports car. guess it depends on how comfortable your are with body roll. if its also a DD for the mrs...it'd depends on her as well.

try it out sans sways though...only way you'll know if it works for you!

My two cents on swaybars and lift for the 3rd gens:

I live in L.A. and do a lot of highway driving. When I first lifted the truck (spacer lift), I could not drive it the way I wanted to on the highways because I felt so much body roll (w/ stock sway bars). It was actually scary on bends in the highway.

I decided to buy some Addco sway bars and although a PITA to install, they have made a night and day difference on the highway. I'm going on my first off-road trip next week but nothing crazy so I won't disconnect them.

Conclusion: If this is only a trail rig, don't put them back on. If this is a DD and you drive a ton on the highway at decent speeds, I would not drive w/o them.

I just Lifted my 4Runner with the OEM Lift!!

I used some Energy Suspension Bushings!! And my truck has very little if not any Body roll!!

yeah, i just made longer links, the rear does nothing in my opinion, but the front made a huge difference on road disconnected; I didnt like it. my stock front links were bending and had necked a bit between the nuts on the top
