what to do with sliders?
I bought some sliders from stubbs in cali! here is what they look like http://www.stubbswelding.com/RndSlider2.gif here is some on a 4-runner http://www.stubbswelding.com/bill02slider.JPG and some on a tacoma http://www.stubbswelding.com/kensliders2sm.jpg Now i have to figure out how and what color to paint/undercoat/powdercoat them. Here is a pic of my truck http://tellico.off-road.com/wwwthrea...71315-pic1.jpg Keep in mind that i have the 6inch fabtech lift and will have crome wheels or the MT classic II's on my 33 12.50 BFGs. So I am thinking a couple of different routes. 1. rubber undercoating and then paint over it flat black or semi-gloss black. 2. Just the flat black paint. 3. just the gloss black. 4. powdercoated black. what do you all think? give me any ideas even if I don't have it posted and you think it would look better. I will also put two coats of rust-proof prim. Red

Rattle can it, they're just going to get scrapped up anyway. I splurged and used cheap spray on bed liner, kinda like a thick spray paint. I should have used it on my bumper too, cause now my regular spray paint is flaking off.

Yep, rattle can em. I just sanded them lightly, and used acetone/paint thinner to get all the debris and stuff off, then rattle canned them flat black and used a clear coat spray at the end.

I'll be using Hammerite (sp?) or some other rattle can on mine and then topping it off with a coat of DIY bed liner. Not the abrasive stuff though... just the bumpy stuff.

Mine are currently Hammerite like my rear bumper.
In the past, they have been Rustoleum textured.
I got a quote of entirely too much money to get them sprayed with real Rhinoliner stuff.
Mine come off at least once a year for painting and sandblasting so that they stand a chance of making it through winter.
If they get used, they will be missing paint after wheeling making touch-ups a necessity meaning paint of some sort is more practical in my mind.
For what it's worth, I think the Hammerite takes touch ups better so they are not as easy to see.

I think i will be going with the hammerrite. It looks good and is cheap compared to the powder and liner. Plus it is hard to touch up the powder to look good. thanks for the input red

Powdercoat is nice if you don't scrape them much. Definetly don't use rubberized undercoating or anything else that will provide more resistance to sliding. You really want them to slide on rocks w/out any resistance. Engine enamel works pretty well...and you can repaint as often as needed.

I was going to say go with a Rhino Lining coat...but after reading Flygt's post, sounds like its gonna cost a lot. I was looking into getting my front and rear chrome bumpers hit with some Rhino Lining but the guy at the dealer said I would be better off going with an ARB or TJM...even the DEALER said that! Apparently it costs close to double to get the lining put on chrome pieces...da*n!
