What backspacing to go with

So i am getting new wheels and tires and i need to figure out what backspacing to get... i'm going to be running glassworks baja fenders which advertised 4.5 in flare and i want my tires to stick out to match it. i'm going to be running 305 70 16 BFG AT's (33 12.5) and i need to know if anyone has any idea what backspacing to go with... I know BruceTS has these flares but he is banned in here and has the total chaos long travel so his front tires stick our farther because of that... so any thought would be great.

Even just pics with 305's on a 3rd gen 4runner with whatever backspacing... lol thanks

Sorry man, can't help. But, that is a long way out there even for a 12.5 tire. Have you considered a wheel spacer at all?

I was going to suggest 3 inch, but thats not going to get you there, and I don't know how far out you can go.

3" should get you flush with a 4.5" extended flare. i dont know where youd get a 3"bs wheel though...unless they're steelies which suck and are heavy. ive got 315's on a 4.5"BS wheel with 1.5" spacer = 3" BS wheel. tires stick out about 1-1.25" from my LTD flares which are probably a bit narrower than a glass fender would be. not much though...as the ltd flares are quite wide. dont be afraid of spacers...just buy quality ones, torque em to spec and recheck every oil change or wheeling trip.

current setup with 1.5" front spacer, 315's and 4.5"BS 8" wide wheels.

my buddys '99 runner on 4.5" wheels and 305's on LTD flares. my 98 on the right back when it had 285's, but same wheel & flares.

This might be kinda off topic but I dont feel like wheel spacers are bad. Yeah Ive heard stories about the lug nuts loosening but if you torque them to spec and use lock-tite they wont be coming off. I run them on my girlfreinds truck and I wouldnt use anything that would comprimise saftey on hers and after a year there has been no issues. I also run them on the front of mine and have had no issues.

Perhaps I was thinking these new fenders are bigger than they are. Of the very few trucks I've seen with glass fenders, the fenders covered LT set ups, which add 3" per side, plus the wheel and tire. Now that I think about it, 4.5" wouldn't be that far out to go.

the 285's fit fine, the 4.5in backspacing is stock, mine have a 2in back spacing on my wheels, just go to a tire shop and tell them you want some sweet rims with whatever backspacing you want I.E. 3in. wheel spacers are cheaper and they don't hurt you rig, just be sure you buy the kind that has its own lugs then has a separate set of studs for your wheels to mount to.
