stuff to look for:

take a whiff of the exhaust. if it smells like coolant, you have a blown head gasket on your hands.

check for rust on the frame, a little surface rust won't hurt much(we all have it) but if there's any major rusted through spots, keep on looking

just be warned that the beds on toyotas made before '89 rust, it's a fact of life. it won't affect much else, it just isn't pretty. i'm going to be building a flatbed for my pickup soon, since i can put in whatever features i want and have a lot of flex without rubbing my rear tires, plus being rust free much easier than bobbing the bed too, since you don't have to cut and realign anything either

thanks for your help. Well i just bought the truck, its in Ri. It will be a 12 hr drive, but this truck is pretty clean for an 88. I was looking at 2 of them. only 135000, not ext cab but i think its worth it.

Wonder if my 31" swampers will fit
