Weight of stock '99 - '02 front bumper?

I'm interested in purchasing a basic Shrockworks front bumper for my '01 4Runner, but want some assurance that the truck will keep its current stance ('99 coils & Bilstein HDs). Does anyone know what an entire front bumper assembly from the '99 - '02 model weighs?

The Shrockworks bumper w/o hoops weighs about 98 lbs.

Here is the version:

Good question, I've wanted the answer to that question as well.

Can't be more than half that if that.

If you add a winch, then you might notice some sagging.

Stock plastic is about 20 pounds. It will sag with the weight of a heavy plate bumper.

20 lbs? Top trim piece, chrome portion, lower valence & brackets. Really?

Andreas,

I do not know what the stock bumper weight is, however the front of my vehicle sagged less than 1/8" after installing the SW bumper. I do not have a winch, and have the single hoop bumper with a set of fogs and a set of driving lights installed.

I have the "Tall" springs on my Highlander edition, so perhaps that is helping things out. I was pleasantly surprised that A) the SW bumper wasn't all that heavy and that B) there was no noticeable sagging.

Height with the stock bumper, etc was 35 1/2. With SW, it now sits at 35 3/8. Might be 35 5/16.

Hope that helps.

Ball of Fire,
That helps - thank you! I installed a fresh set of '99 coils & Bilstein HDs more than 7 years ago, so I'd be starting with the same stance as yours.

Although the sag was minimal in your case, do you notice increased bounce when hitting dips in the road?

Could you post a pic of how the bumper looks on your truck?

Sorry I don't have very good photos of it. Front quarter shot and then some close-ups. The tolerances and gaps are perfect. Fit and finish are top notch.

My stock bumper from my 2002 weighed about 50 pounds. When I replaced it with my custom bumper weighing about 100 pounds, the front sagged only 3/16". (I measured very carefully, before and after, because I was curious too.) This was with my stock front springs. Hope this helps.

Excellent - thank you.

I'm curious if one could add some sort of 'trim packers' directly above the strut bushing to regain the lost height? In other words, shimming the entire strut assembly down.

Sort of off topic but my front bumper chrome piece is rusting and would like to replace it with a stock one in if anyone here has one in good shape they want to get rid of. I would replace my back piece also if anyone has that as well. Thanks
