Have a few questions about waterproofing my truck. I'm having terrible problems with sucking mud through the intake, into the carb. I'm gonna block off the hot air duct on the air cleaner assembly (the one that draws from the exhaust manifold) and unhook the valve that operates it. I'm still unsure as to how I should route the rest of the intake tubing, and how i could adapt the oval shaped intake tube to standard pvc? I would prefer not to cut into my fenders or hood, if at all possible - and run the intake within the engine compartment. Also, I'm having problems with my ignition components getting wet (distributor, ignitor). Will silicone be sufficient for the distributor cap? I thought about trying to find one of those distributor condoms (rubber cover), but auto parts stores don't seem to carry these things. Maybe i can fit the one that's on my Altima. I think if I take care of the intake, as well as the ignition system, I SHOULD have everything covered. Any recomendations on how to accomplish this task?

buy a giant sized condom, cut slits to slip over the wheels and drive your vehicle into it. then get some rubber cement and seal the slits around the axle housing and the cv's. also cut slits for the intake and exhaust and seal those around as well. then you are totally waterproofed. it's getting late I guess I'm I need to go to sleep.

Hey man thanks for the advice! I'll just pull the condom off of my ePenis, buy myself some rubber cement, and be good to go! Seriously people, any suggestions?

well i'm guessing that a snorkel would be your best bet, but since you don't want to cut into your truck, i'm thinking what you said would work out well. but i really have no idea for sure, hopefully some others will set you straight

For you ignition components they make ignition sealer in an aerosoll spray that works pretty well on disributors, plug wires, coil, and any other wiring you may have, you just have to re-apply whenever you remove them. The can I have is made by Gunk and is called "plastic spray and ignition sealer."
