water leak

i noticed today while my buddy was driving my truck and i was in the passenger seat that i have a water leak right above the passenger sunvisor. if i stick my hand up there between the roof and the headliner its wet. my first guess is that the sun roof is leaking. ive checks the drains up there and they dont seem to be blocked. have any of you had expierence with this. BTW its a 96 4runner limited.

Have you had your windshield replaced lately? I had a 90' 4Runner that leaked from there because the windshield was installed poorly.

Seeing that there isn't anything else to leak, I would guess that it is probably your sun roof. Don't know what to tell you those seals get old.

yup, can't but the seal either. Whole glass and seal have to be bought for around $591.00

My 4Runner had some water stains on ceiling panel when I first got it. Turned out to be leaking from the roof rack. On the stock roof racks, there are endcaps that can be removed to reveal small holes in the roof. Normally, there are plastic plugs in the holes but for some reason mine had been removed. I think an aftermarket roof rack was used at one time. Anyways, you may want to check those four holes if the sunroof doesn't appear to be leaking.

Can you clarify this some more. Where do I look?

On the driver and passenger sides of the roof rack, there are rails that run from front to back. At each end there is an endcap that is held in place by one screw(I think it is a torx, but I can't remember). If you remove the screw you can pull off the endcap. Underneath you will find a small rectangular hole. They should have plastic or rubber plugs, but mine were removed for some reason and water leaked in from there. I hope that helps.
