WANTED: Someone (someplace) to do a 3.0 to 3.4 engine swap (or 3.0 to new 3.0)
Good day all,
I am just exploring my options at this point. I have a 1990 4Runner with a 3.0 / auto / 4x4 and want to either put in a 3.4 or a remanufactured 3.0.. As such I am looking for someone, a shop or an individual, to do the swap for me. Someone who has done it before. I am in Massachusetts but will not mind driving for a bit, say, within 600 miles or so.. i am pretty flexible so my main problem is finding someone close enough with experience who can do it. If I cannot do a 3.4 within time/budget constraints I might just go the rebuilt/remanufactured 3.0 route, but of course I would rather have 3.4 in there. Any interest? Pointers to the right people appreciated too. Drop me a PM and thanks for all the replies.

If you were in MT, I'd say sure, I would do the 3.0 to the 3.0. I've done it before. However, you're a bit too far away, sorry man, but if you decide to undertake it yourself, then just let me know and I'll guide you along the way.

I would stay with a 3.0 but instead of a V6, go I6! May cost more than you want to spend but the results are unlike anything else around!

I'd second TeamShiftPoint - very smart guy and can make the 3.4 work with your A340H auto... Otherwise, I'd seriously consider taking a vacation and having Offroad Solutions do the swap for you... keep in mind, though, it isn't going to be cheap.

ORS out...
Well, I guess my idea for an easy all in swap is out since ORS is closing down. I just bought my second 2dr 4Runner (its a disease ) and wanted to go this route since I bought it with an engine running on 5 cylinders. Anyway...does anyone know ANYWHERE that will do the entire swap now?
Thanks!
Thanks!
