want to switch to carbuerator???

hey guys i need some help. i have a '86 22re and i would like to switch to a carb set-up. i was wondering exactly what parts do i need besides a new intake manifold and the carb? do i need to switch computers and wiring harnesses from a truck with a carb or can i just eliminate what i dont need? also,has anyone heard of the 83 & 84 22r blocks being different then any of the other blocks up to the mid 90's? i am being told that mine in my '86 is not the original engine even though i bought from the original owner who never did anything to it. any help would be greatly appreciated and thanks again guys.

BECAUSE I HAVE EVRYTHING APART NOW FOR MY RE-BUILD AND I HAD ALL KINDS OF PROBLEMS WITH THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM WHEN IT RAN.OLD WIRING AND THE GUY BEFORE ME CHOPPED IT ALL UP.

a carb intake should bolt right up to any 22r block, as long as it is a 22r intake, to my knowledge

i definitly would stay far away from a toyota carb, and go with a weber setup. i like my 32/36, but if you plan on getting a different cam, header, and all that, you might want a 38 as it will give you a bit more horsepower.

there shouldn't be any wiring needed if you get a manual choke, electric chokes need a few wires run though, there's no computers needed with a a weber

imho, you can tune a carburetor and push more hp out of a carbed 22r than you could with a FI engine, plus everything is mechanical which is a plus if you ever break down in the middle of nowhere -- no ecu to fry

i am a little confused. so does that mean i can completely get rid of the computer and wiring harness? but what about the O2 sensor and all of that wiring. thanks for all your help.

I don't see any computers on my carb. I wouldn't want a carb'd engine personally, takes a LONG time to warm up in the winter, and mine and a few others on here have had problems with hot restarts. The carb floods the engine after its shut down, and when you try to restart it 20 min later, it takes 3-4 cranks, and then you pour smoke out like crazy for a few seconds. Don't get a holley rebuilt toyota either, pure crap, I got one, it was defective, then the replacement they sent me was defective too. The weber looks like a nice setup, I am just afraid of emissions.
