Wanna lift with X-Reas ??? A possible way forward

I have been following all of the comments and post about a 4th Gen lift.

I have also spoken with Downey, SAW and others.

The real truth in NOBODY has actually tried lifting an X-Reas equipped runner yet.

So,

I will be purchasing just the DAYSTAR top spacer and longer bolts that go above the front strut unit. I am going to attempt to install this spacer without diconnecting the X-Reas.

I should get btw 1" and 1.25" which should be just enough to run some 265/70/17's which open up many more choices and should maintain the desired roll stability with the stiffer sidewall of the 70's vs the slightly softer sidewall of the 75's.

I will probably go with Revo's again as I had great success on the 99.

For the rear, I am going to go with the Daystar kit and just see how the truck sits. In the long run, I will look for a Cornfed or later Daystar that is a little lower to level the truck.

I will be doing this over the next 2-3 months as money and time allows so watch this space...

(Of course, I will document everything with pics)

BTW, I just got a part time job for my mod fund

David

BTW, you can run 265/70/17's without a lift. I'm running Bridgestone A/T's in that size right now. Never had a rub happen.

scott:

upping to that size should be no problems ofcourse u might experience minimal rubbing at full lock or something but no need to sweat! some members here have already done the one up size and have loved it so, that's good news!

good luck,

lance

Good points all.

I just want to try and pick up somewhere btw 1.5 and 2" overall with a spacer and tire swap.

I'll let you know...

Did you change out the spare, too? Does it fit -- there seems to be so little room between the tire and trailer hitch.

Spare Tire

Regarding spare tires, you can fit a slightly larger tire under the spare section if you take some of the air out of the spare. When you need it, just inflate the tire with an electric compressor (or any compressor - even the 15 buck ones).

This way all your tires will be the same size.

Hope this helps
