vibration and rpm drops
I have a 04 2.7 tacoma with 30,000 miles on it. Ive been using it alot for work driving 80 miles a day. I do regular oil changes and have changed sparkplugs, transmission, transfer case and both differential oils, anti freeze and im planing to change the thermostat soon, and ofc ive changed the airfilter. I havent done any mods except fog lights and a brush gaurd. I got a few questions about it. #1 is if im missing anything that i should replace? Also, It has a vibration from the engine when its runing. I dont know if its normal because i dont know anybody with a tacoma. Ive been in chevys with them runing and it was completely still. I dont know if its normal for this small vibration? it always had it. Another question is that when im driving at highway speed, and come to a traffic light, my rpms drop like to 800-790 for like 2 seconds then go back up to the normal 850. Im wondering if its normal? Am i worrying too much about it? Please help.lol. Thanks.

Hi redbox33,
I too have a 2004 Tacoma, however with ~16,XXX miles. I believe you're doing right by the truck changing out those fluids and filters. I'm running Mobile 1 synthetic and change out the oil and filter every 10K miles, otherwise nothing else has been done (aside from air filters).
Typically a 4 cylinder engine (at least in my experience) does develop a bit more vibration, espically at idle. One of the reasons why smaller displacement engines have balance shafts is to counter act this harshness. Anyhoo, my Taco will idle down to I think 750-800 RPM and stay there until I re-apply the throttle. I suppose it's a means of Toyota cutting down on fuel consumption.
You might wish to check the status of your engine and transmission mounts while you're at it, perhaps one could be worn, transferring additional vibration ... just a thought. Good luck.

Sounds like you've got things well under control. I'm also assuming that you're changing the oil filter. Thanks for reminding me that I still need to change out my diff fluid.
My 02 will idle at 500 rpm when warm. I do get a bit of vibration but it's only felt in the seat. My shifter moves a bit more but that's because the counter-balancer on my transmission is bent to crap thanks to a large rock

I will check the engine and motor mounts. I changed the thermostat today. I know it was probably early but i do it everytime I change the antifreeze. My rpms are a steady 850. I dont understand why your alls are lower... Maybe I should use a tachometer on mine to get better results? Thanks.
