Vibration? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ?

Hey Guys ____ I知 trying to isolate a slight vibration that I知 experiencing from 35-40mph in 2WD. It痴 an 84Runner 5sp, with a 7in.sus.lift and a 2in body lift. This is not a rig I build up myself, instead a rig that was started by a friend and was unable to keep due to some unforeseen circumstances, anyway it seem that the rear driveline angle off of the differential might be a little excessive, I知 trying to bring my computer skills up to par and take some pictures and post them as of yet been unable to, but I値l keep trying. It seems the differential was not rotated up at all, (from stock) and I知 wondering if re perching the rear springs(and rotating the diff up slightly) to get a better angle, might be one solution, or keeping the stock diff.angle and add a CV joint in driveline, anyways that痴 my problem, and I was HOPING to go out on a limb and ask for some PICTURES(of the rear driveline angle going to t-case) of some of you guys rigs with similar lifts, I might be overextending myself by asking for pictures. ,but what the hell, I値l give a try. _____ THANKS BAYRUNNER

This may be totally unrelated as my truck experience is limited (that's why I'm here. to learn a thing or two) but, a buddy of mine was having problems with slight vibrations at similar speeds and through suggestions from my uncle decided to beef up the steering shock. (cant remember if theres another word for it) After that, the problems went away. This is only for a particular kind of side-side vibration though, maybe yours is a bit different...

beefing up the steering stabilizer is just a MASK to hide the real problem of the vibration, its still there just less noticeable

i would rotate the pinion angle.... you want the straightest path possible from the transmission/tcase output to the pinion yoke.... as straight as possible.... a driveshaft with a cv would help as well, but i would actually realign the axle first before going to the cv as its just a better in all respects first option... the custom cv shaft later if it doesnt get better....

Hey Guys ____ Thanks for the replies, I guess the first thing to do is check to see if drive shaft is true. Then take it from there. _____ THANKS BAYRUNNER

Hey Guys _____ I was thinking about my dilemma ( vibration),if the slight vibration was occurring between 35mph and 42mph and I知 in 3rd,if I shift out of 3rd and the vibration disappears , does that mean it could be in the trans.(third gear)even though the driveshaft(rear) angle is sharper than it should be. The driveshaft was trued, and the bearing from t-case is tight. It seems it only leaves the trans or the driveshaft angle.. 泡nyway interested in your thoughts ____ THANKS BAYRUNNER

Check it out! It's in your driveshaft. I'll bet it almost sounds like gearing. Nope It's the driveshaft angles. You can not have anymore than 1 1/2 degrees differance from the front u-joint angle to the rear u-joint angle. Realy! check this out close. Mine was 2 degrees differance and I got the same vibration. I dropped my crossmember 5/8 of an inch and no more vibrations. I tore my transfercase appart, replace bearings, tore my rear apart, and replace my u-joints and it turned out to just be this driveshaft angle stuff. I heard about this but on the toyots it is so critical. Good luck!
