vibrating hood at high speed
Seems as though there was a thread on this awhile back, but I can't seem to find it. Ever since I installed my bug shield, I get a horrible vibration in the hood up towards the hinges. Is there a fix to this problem?

Just wanted to chime in and say that Ive had this same problem recently as well. Mine is a 2nd gen though.
I lifted the hood to tighten up the hood mounts where they meet the hood and they were already very tight. It seems to be loose from inside where the mounts go through the firewall. Have not had the time to tear into it yet and see what is going on with mine.

I've heard of this before though I really don't get much over 75 MPH with ours and haven't seen it yet myself. While surfing the net a while back I came across a guy that is an engineer that makes and sells a bolt in hood brace to eliminate the problem. Try looking for it on Google. Maybe you'll find the same site I did.

If anyone has tried the Flanker Solution Inc, solution, I'd be very curious to hear the results.

I'm also very interested in this site and the "fix" he sells. Is it worth $50 though? Anyone on here ordered one and tried it?

I have the EGR Carbon Fiber "like" guard and it made a lot of wind noise after I installed it.
I solved mine by adjusting the hood stops in the front. Just screw them "out" a bit more. This raises the front of the hood a bit and changes the airflow.
This was the fix for my 93 Runner's problem with the back hood rattling/flapping at high speed.

I put up with the Hood flapping at speeds above 60mph for almost three years on my 93 Runner before a Tech at the Toyota dealer told me to turn out the Hood Stops until the rattles and flapping stops.
I had the same problem with the 02 after I put the bug guard on it. The back of the Hood started rattling until I adjused the Stops.
