Viar 450 Air Compressor On Board!
My Viar 450 air compressor is finally installed. I had to move the cruise control unit to make room. The custom mounting bracket for the cruise control looks like I made it with a erector set, but thems the breaks since I don't have a welder. I plan to add a tank soon, but for now it's ready for tire-filling duty.
There's an ARB compressor switch in the cab to match the front air locker switch that should be there some time this fall.

It can run forever . . .
It's 100% duty cycle, but doesn't have the capacity to run tools. I just wanted a compressor that put out a bit more air than the ARB compressor. Here's a comparison I put together before deciding on the viar:
It does what I want it to do (airing up tires, rejuvinating inflatable dolls, and running an air locker) and fits in the engine compartment. I got it new for $250 off ebay. I just hope it passes the test of time (and abuse). As an added bonus it's also a lot quieter than the ARB compressor. There are quite a few compressors I didn't consider. Such as the Quickair III, which has a high flow volume but doesn't operate at a high enough pressure to run an arb air locker (if i recall correctly).
